We want clean rivers and oceans, and that’s something we can act on. Ríos Limpios uses a simple, inexpensive filter built from plants and other organic materials to pull toxins out of household grey water before it ever reaches the local watershed.
In an effort to stop pollution in the rivers near San Salvador, Barú, the project has installed several grey water filters as working examples, places neighbors can see the system running and learn how to build their own.
Ríos Limpios is currently inactive, kept here for the record of what it built and the model it leaves behind.
