Structure Meets Community: DBC General Assembly 2026

September 30, 2026

DBC has been building regenerative community in the Diamante Valley for years. On September 22nd, at Diamante Luz, the work found its form.

The annual General Assembly brought members together to do what this community has always done: reflect honestly, decide collectively, and move forward together. This year, the decisions landed on solid ground.

A Year of Structure

Treasurer José Bermúdez presented DBC’s first Executive Annual Report under its new governance framework. 2026 was the year that built the scaffolding. The Assembly reviewed and approved 2027 budget proposals, exercising collective authority over shared resources through a process that is now formally its own.

The Community Covenant and Bylaws Approved

Two foundational agreements passed at the Assembly: the Community Covenant and the Bylaws.

The Covenant applies to everyone who engages with DBC, Member or not. It is the common ground. The Bylaws belong to Members, defining how decisions are made and what each stage of the stewardship journey requires.

These are not new ideas. They put into words what DBC has practiced for a long time.

The Membership Platform Is Open

The Assembly inaugurated DBC’s new digital membership platform, live at diamantebridge.org/apply.

Long-standing Members claimed their accounts and named their stewardship stage. New Friends, Allies, and Apprentices applied and were welcomed in.

You do not need to be a formal Member to be part of DBC.

Two paths:

Community — Way Finders and Rooted Allies show up at whatever pace and capacity is right for them. Agree to the Covenant. No governance duties, no obligations beyond how we treat each other and the land.

Membership — Apprentices and Fire Tenders step into full legal membership in the Asociación: voice and vote in the Assembly, governance participation, and institutional backing for their projects.

The four stages open to apply for today:

  • Stage 1 · Way Finder — I am discovering DBC.
  • Stage 2 · Rooted Ally — I stand in relationship with DBC.
  • Stage 3 · Apprentice — I learn by showing up and contributing.
  • Stage 4 · Fire Tender — I take responsibility for our shared decisions.

Member Acknowledgements and Stage Initiations

The Assembly closed with its most meaningful moment: long-standing Members recognized for their years of contribution, new members welcomed across their thresholds. The stages were made real, not as categories but as witnessed rites of belonging.

Then We Danced

Governance done, the community celebrated. The evening closed with a birthday party for one of our own, Jordy “Tarzan,” who doubled as DJ and MC for the night. It was exactly what it should have been: loud, joyful, and very DBC.

Because structure without celebration is just paperwork.

The Bylaws give DBC’s governance a spine. The Covenant gives it a heartbeat. The platform makes both accessible to anyone, anywhere, who feels called to this work.

The community was already here. Now it has the language and structure to hold itself.
